What are the dimensions of the new device (vehicle recording system, VRS)?
The end device is considerably smaller than the current system (Emotach). The dimensions are 135x75x30mm. Corresponding installation and connection recommendations will be sent to registered users with the delivery documents.

What are the next steps?
- From December 2024, only those keepers who put new vehicles into service from 1 January 2025 will be able to register with NATRAS.
- From January 2025, keepers who need to replace a defective Emotach can also register with NATRAS.
- From June 2025, the use of the Online Service Desk will also be available to all other keepers. (It will be possible to register keeping data without submitting the VRS from March 2025).
- The migration must be completed by 31 December 2025.

What is changing in general?
The trip data (kilometers driven) is now recorded by private providers and transmitted to the federal government in full digital form for the collection of charges.
Vehicle owners can choose from the following providers:- National NETS provider: NATRAS AG, which is commissioned by the federal government, provides the basic service. It offers free collection of driving data within Switzerland.
- Authorized NETS providers: They offer the collection of journey data within Switzerland (and possibly other services). The conditions may vary accordingly.
- Authorized EETS providers: They offer the collection of journey data within Switzerland as well as in other European countries (and possibly other services). The conditions may vary accordingly.

What is the role of NATRAS AG?
NATRAS AG is commissioned by the Confederation as the National NETS Provider (NNA) and guarantees the basic national service required by law. It must provide all interested vehicle owners with an automated recording service (HVC) free of charge and guarantee a backup system should the automated system break down. For those vehicle owners who opt for the NNP, NATRAS AG is the first point of contact when it comes to recording data on mileage.

When will the NATRAS AG solution be available?
From the end of the second quarter of 2025, there will be parallel operation of HVF II (emotach) and the new HVF III. From the end of 2025, HVF II (emotach) will be switched off and only HVF III will be operated.
