Why is the new terminal not being provided by the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS), as was previously the case with the Emotach?
The corresponding operating contract stipulates that NATRAS will provide the owner with a new VRS (collection system vehicle) based on GNSS technology free of charge. Unfortunately, the current HVC technology (emotach) is not compatible with these requirements. However, care has been taken to ensure that simple connection and commissioning is possible both for migration operations and for equipping new vehicles. This means that the cabling of the existing solution can largely continue to be used.

Can owners of vehicles registered abroad also use the NATRAS solution?
The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) decides on the authorisation of vehicles registered abroad to use the NATRAS service. In addition to NATRAS AG as the authorised National NETS Provider (NNA), other providers - so-called Authorised NETS Providers (ZNA) - are approved by the FOCBS. EETS providers will also be able to record driving data on Swiss roads, which is of particular interest to vehicle owners who frequently drive on foreign roads, as they will only need one recording device.
