We are NATRAS AG

Initial situation

Various criteria were taken into account when searching for a suitable name and logo for the NETS provider. The word "NETS" is derived from the established term EETS in the toll world, which stands for European Electronic Toll Service. In the case of the HVC III solution, "European" was replaced by "National", resulting in "National Electronic Toll Service". Against this background, which had already been defined as the framework for the tendering process, it was obvious that the elements "National" and "Electronic Toll Service" should be represented in the name and logo.

The name should be simple and easy to remember, easy to pronounce in all national languages and ideally free of unwanted associations. In addition, technical requirements, such as the availability of an easy-to-remember web domain, should enable simple communication with vehicle owners. The logo should visualise the connection to the customers and their use.

Natras Logo

Result

The name "NATRAS" was derived from the Rhaeto-Romanic for "naziunal" - NA- and TRAS, which also means "through" in Rhaeto-Romanic. For example, this could mean simply and easily travelling through a nation (Switzerland). The logo, in turn, was designed to represent the infrastructure (road) used by heavy vehicles, which is also simplified by tunnels due to geographical obstacles (mountains). This was the birth of the name and logo for the NETS provider "NATRAS".

Our organisation

The shareholders

NATRAS AG represents a balanced 50:50 joint venture consisting of the consortium of the Swiss LOSTnFOUND AG, which has been part of the Swedish AddSecure since January 2022, and the Austrian Kapsch TrafficCom AG.
Together as a consortium, they were awarded the contract to operate the NETS provider in the bidding process organised by the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS).

The joint venture benefits from the expertise of LOSTnFOUND AG in the field of telematics, reinforced by the resources of the Swedish company AddSecure, and the extensive experience of Kapsch TrafficCom AG in the management of traffic infrastructures. NATRAS AG focusses on offering high-quality services within the framework of the National Electronic Toll Service (NETS).

The Board of Directors

The highest authority for supervision and organisation at NATRAS AG is made up of two representatives of the two shareholders. These representatives are characterised by their extensive experience in the strategic management of toll projects as well as in the development and strategic management of the company. By combining these skills, they ensure multi-faceted and in-depth expertise in the relevant business area.

The chairmanship of the Board of Directors rotates between the two shareholders every two years. This rotation ensures that both shareholders assume responsibility for the chairmanship and thus actively contribute to the management of the company.

Management Board

NATRAS AG is managed operationally in a "top-sharing model" in which the two co-directors each cover two specific areas of responsibility. This division of responsibilities was defined according to the individual areas of expertise in the consortium and consequently in the joint venture. This targeted division of responsibilities ensures that each Co-Managing Director can contribute his expertise and experience to the relevant area in order to effectively contribute to the operational objectives of NATRAS AG.
